The third event in the series of information sessions and Digital Transformation solution presentations, titled “Digital Transformation of Businesses in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace”, was completed successfully. It was organized by ena Development Consultants, Supporting Body of the eMT cluster, in collaboration with the Kavala Chamber of Commerce and the technology companies that make up the eMT cluster.
The event took place on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the welcoming premises of the Kavala Chamber of Commerce in Kavala.
Welcome addresses were given on behalf of the Kavala Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber's Entrepreneurship & Innovation Support Unit, Kick-iT, by the Chamber's GEMI (Business Registry) Manager, Mr. Ioannis Koutras, and the Chamber's Director, Ms. Souzy Mavrommati, respectively.
Next, the scope and innovations brought together by the technology ecosystem of the eMT cluster, the first Innovation & Technology cluster in the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, were presented by the project's Project Manager, Mr. Stelios Kotopoulos.
Five (5) of the businesses that make up the eMT cluster took part in the event. They had the opportunity both to connect with the business community of the Kavala area and to present the digital transformation solutions they are developing as members of the eMT cluster.
More specifically, the following companies took part with their representatives:
OTS S.A.: Mr. Giannis Ramfos, business development advisor at OTS S.A., focused his presentation on smart city systems and the possibilities they create for the smooth running of a city: systems for managing networks and important information such as parking traffic, water levels in rivers and streams, and more. He also gave a live demonstration of a similar system OTS has developed for the Municipality of Rethymno.
Vertitech: The company's CEO, Mr. Nikolaos Nikou, presented the profile of Vertitech and the education software Classter, aimed at large educational institutions. He then spoke about the company's significant growth in international markets on every continent, stressing that all of its activity is run from Kavala, a truly brilliant example of what the right business methodology and technology can deliver.
Alpha Plan Consultants: The company's General Manager, Mr. Kleovoulos Alexiadis, presented his company's products that help businesses make use of funding programs and go through digital transformation, and spoke about the issues small and medium-sized enterprises face when taking part in subsidized programs and how these can be addressed. Mr. Alexiadis also stressed the importance of SMEs cooperating within clusters for their survival and growth, and the need for the digital transformation of their processes with the help of initiatives such as the eMT cluster and the support of bodies such as the Chambers and their Support Units.
GeoSense: The company's C.E.O., Mr. Dimitris Ramnalis, presented services and products related to unmanned aerial vehicles, UAVs (Drones), and their typical uses across a very wide range of applications, such as collecting crop data for digital farming, monitoring hard-to-reach areas for protection or natural disaster research, and inspecting/monitoring hard-to-reach structures (such as refinery furnaces or mobile phone masts), while also explaining the enormous usefulness of drones across economic and scientific sectors.
MyIP Networks: Also present with a representative was MyIP Networks, which works in website & web application hosting, Security Certificates and Datacenter services in general.
ena Development Consultants, Supporting Body of the eMT cluster, was represented by its co-founder and Director of Coordination & Development, Mr. Stavros Amoiras, who, after a brief look at ena's presence and role as a development hub in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, presented the financing tools available to businesses to support innovation and entrepreneurship.
The event was moderated by the founder of Ten06 and head of Strategic Planning of the eMT cluster, Mr. Giorgos Papastamatiou, whose targeted explanations and pointed questions to the speakers contributed greatly to the smooth running of the event.
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to discuss individual questions about the digital transformation of their businesses with the speakers and the representatives of the eMT cluster and the participating member businesses, while enjoying a variety of gourmet dishes and fine wines.
